Orlando Bike Share (Website | Facebook) began station installations today.
Last month, we told you which four locations would be the first to have a station.
Today Orlando Bike Share plans to install 11 bike share racks at Skyhouse, 7 on Gertrude’s Walk, 7 at Lake Eola, and 15 at OUC’s Plaza. The first station installation at Skyhouse was completed today at 2:30pm.
Peter Martinez, General Manager for the Orlando Bike Share program, said that the first 20 bikes would be placed at the stations on Tuesday and bike share memberships would be available to purchase online by Wednesday, December 31.
Orlando Bike Share has a ribbon cutting planned for 2pm on Friday, January 9, 2015 with City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. It will take place at the plaza outside of the OUC building.
Note: Last week, ahead of a rebranding launch, SunCycles became Orlando Bike Share.
Bibiana_Ackbar PhilipHolt We’re loving #OrlandoBikeShare too. #OYes to baskets.
PhilipHolt orlandomayor This is incredible! Love the basket in the front! Now I won’t miss NY’s CitiBikeNYC ha!
AidanAugustin that’s great!
PhilipHolt orlandomayor I’m a huge fan of AustinBcycle, excited to see home following suit!
This is AWESOME!
Awesome! Warm weather cities like Orlando are perfect for bike share and bike rentals. So cool to see these going in all over the US.
We have Spokefly bike rental in Austin which is a great option for on-demand bike rental. One click of the button and you have a bike to ride and easy payments through the app. There’s no kiosks so you can pick up and ride your bike anywhere in Austin and lock up when you’re done!
Bike owners make money renting out their bikes so any city can have a bike share without huge implementation costs.
There should be some placed near the Dr. Phillips Center. Near the corner of South St. and Rosalind. The Grande apts are there too, would get a lot of usage.
I think Miami has it too
So proud of you Orlando.
Chi and NYC do this too! Orlando can’t act right to deserve this just yet!
An excellent development for downtown orlando!
Love it! Jessica Renee maybe I won’t need one
