Code School (Website | Facebook), an online platform for learning web development skills, was acquired by Pluralsight (Website | Facebook) for $36 million.

Code School was founded in 2011 and has called Downtown Orlando home for the last 4 years. They’ve had offices in the Angebilt, Chase Plaza Building and are now headquartered in the GAI building at South and Summerlin.

The 39-person team at Code School is responsible for an online learning platform with millions of members and over 40,000 active users. They offer over 40 courses covering JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Ruby, Git, iOS and more.

While providing high-quality content for a range of skill levels, Code School’s most popular courses are for beginners and those just learning how to code. The courses combine video and in-browser exercises, and usually include fun jingles. To celebrate the acquisition, Code School and Pluralsight are offering 72 hours of free access for people who sign up before January 29.

Gregg Pollack, CEO and founder of Code School, serves on the Project DTO and serves on the advisory board for Orlando Tech Association. According to Pollack, Code School will stay in Orlando into the immediate future. According to his blog post on the acquisition, Code School will be a separate service from Pluralsight’s other offerings.
