The build-up to the six-year I-4 Ultimate project has been comparable to waiting for the holidays. Billboards along the interstate have been cheerfully telling us, for about a month, about construction starting soon, media outlets are posting about it regularly and you can sign up for email alerts at i4ultimate.com. For daily commuters, the tension is palpable.
The I-4 Ultimate team is conducting community outreach meetings to solicit public feedback, designed to engage the public in a discourse surrounding the mega-project and hopefully ease some of the tension.
And they seem to be listening. A Jan. 20 meeting in Eatonville resulted in the possible construction of noise barriers at Kennedy Boulevard when residents raised concerns about the interstate encroaching on private property.
Future meetings will be held in the four major project areas (Attractions, Downtown, Ivanhoe and Altamonte), up until the day construction begins. These meetings will give residents a chance to see what improvements are planned for their area and, as stated above, give them a chance to speak with some of the project planners.
The College Park Neighborhood Association will be hosting an information session at 7 p.m. Feb. 2 at their monthly CPNA meeting at the College Park Community Center [Gmap].

I think the could have figured out something to exit by the Chamber of Commerce w/o the tight loop it is now.

That’s my exit & I love it, it’s my perk for living in College Park. No no no no!
I think they may be underestimating the number of residents that will be exiting @ Colonial, taking the new outer road up to Orange/Magnolia in North Quarter.
Basically everyone living in N. Quarter mixed use buildings, southern part of College Park, Pk Lk Highland and Ivanhoe, who currently exit @ that Ivanhoe exit, will now be sharing that new exit ramp w everyone who exits Colonial for the sake of being on Colonial.
That ramp is certainly going to back up into the highway.
I emailed them with a question and never heard back…
Noooooooo! What a terrible plan to close that exit.
Only thing I don’t like is that the East bound Ivanhoe exit is being eliminated. College Park, Ivanhoe, Park Lk Highland residents (when coming from downtown/attrax) MUST exit at Colonial or Princeton. That plus the new residential builds in those areas make it seem those exits will be overloaded at peak times.
The I-4 Ultimate Event calendar is pretty much useless unless you want to know about the next Hispanic Chamber of Commerce meeting. I was expecting a construction event calendar.
