Art in Odd Places (Website) is a “thematic annual festival” that brings visual and performance art to public spaces. The Orlando version, led by Adam Farcus (Website), Greg Leibowitz (Website), and Patrick Greene, Curator at Gallery at Avalon Island, will take place along Magnolia Avenue and Church Street from Sept. 17-20.

The theme of the event is “Tone” which will “explore interpretations of this idea including: sound, music, tuning, resonance, timbre, tone of voice, inflection, attitude, color, brightness or deepness of hue, rhetoric, strength, overtone, undertone, character, emphasis, resonance, approach, feel, manner, mood, quality, hue plus grey, firmness of body, and skin tone.”

The event organizers are looking for an Administrative Assistant (Part-Time) to help them meet their deadline.

The curatorial team for the Orlando installment of Art in Odd Places is searching for a part-time Administrative/Curatorial Assistant who will work directly with the three-person curatorial team as well as artists/applicants for the festival. This paid position will begin immediately after the search ends and continue through the September AiOP Orlando event. Salary is competitive with gallery support staff positions.

Requirements

Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong interest in arts administration and/or public art, have flexibility and the initiative to work both independently and as part of a team, have proficient computer skills (MS Office and HTML), be geographically located near or within Orlando, and possess excellent communication and writing skills. Candidates will preferably have experience in gallery and/or performance events. Applicants of all genders, races, sexes, ethnicities, ages, and sexual orientations are encouraged to apply.
