road resurfacing
The Florida Department of Transportation will be resurfacing all lanes of Colonial Drive, between Orange Blossom Trail and Shine Avenue in the next fiscal year, which begins in July.

FDOT will be resurfacing 1.6 miles of SR 50 (Colonial Drive) just east of US 441 to Shine Avenue. Resurfacing will include all travel lanes, parking lanes and turn lanes.

There will be a public meeting this Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Marks Street Senior Center [Gmap] to discuss the project and the design concepts. Officials will be on-hand to answer questions and reveal a timeline.

The sections of Colonial along Orange Avenue and Lake Dot will remained untouched due to the upcoming I-4 Ultimate construction.

The estimated length of the resurfacing has yet to be disclosed.

  1. I hope they’ll use this opportunity to create a more bike and pedestrian friendly environment. Β Is there any chance of widening the sidewalks?

  2. We’d love to know what’s being done to make this strip more bike and pedestrian safe!

  3. No they just should have started colonial before so it was ready to handle all the new traffic

  4. This is a great opportunity to make Colonial more livable and less of a barrier. Bumby is just awful and needs resurfacing.
