The planning team behind OrlandoiX (Facebook | Website), a five-day festival happening October  2-6, 2015, launched their new website and made several major announcements yesterday.

OrlandoiX, short for Orlando Interactive Experience, intends to showcase Orlando as a world-class hub for entertainment technology, interactive media, and digital arts. The festival will highlight some of the innovation and technology developed in Central Florida in areas such as gaming, simulation, interactive design, sound, and more.

Event producers David Glass and Jill Healey presented information and renderings of the event yesterday. They’ve secured major Orlando venues including the Dr. Philips for the Performing Arts Center, Amway Center, Church Street, and the Orange County Convention Center. Several additional downtown venues have been included to create what organizers are calling OrlandoiX’s “Digital Village”.

Key highlighting events include a

  • Gaming Arena in partnership with EA
  • Featured Speaker Series
  • Startup Summit
  • Digital Expo
  • Headline Entertainment/Concerts

OrlandoiX is projected to have a daily attendance of 8,000-15,000 people, and host more than more than 200 events over 5 days. In a study by Visit Orlando and Rollins College, OiX is predicted have a gross economic impact of $34.7 Million.

Several Orlando-based companies have come on board as financial and in-kind sponsors. The total cost of the festival is about $1.4million, of which $700,000 has already been raised. An update in April will include details on headline speakers, bands, and expo participants. Tickets for OrlandoiX 2015 go on sale on April 2, 2015.
