We’re not sure how this avoided our attention for so long, but apparently, the City of Orlando has a program in place to install bicycle racks within the public right-of-way near a business, for free.

We spoke with the City and they said that there are, “certain criteria that must be met and the City can only install these bike racks in the public Right-of-Way, but when the criteria are able to [be] met, yes we will install these for free. It usually takes 4-6 weeks from the time an application is submitted for it to be reviewed, and if approved for the racks to be installed if we have them in stock.”
There are some hints on what the City deems as an ideal bike rack location on their website, HERE.
If you would like to request a bicycle rack for your business, please contact Ian Sikonia at 407.246.3325 or [email protected]. We’ve attached a .jpg version of the application form below:

Please let us know if and when you have one installed so we can come and visit it!

  2. This is great information. I hope as more business become aware of this opportunity, we’ll see more of them take advantage, especially those 7-Elevens next to all our new higher-density, residential developments. Thanks for sharing!
