In recognition of Earth Day, the National Recreation and Park Association, Disney, ABC Television Group and ESPN are looking to revitalize park spaces across the country with their Parks Build Community initiative. Through this partnership, one of three City of Orlando parks will receive a $20,000 grant.

Voting started on April 1 and will continue through the end of the month.

The three projects that you can vote for are:

  • Trail improvements at Bill Frederick Park:  Upgrade the nature trail at Bill Frederick Park, giving the community a safe place to explore, learn about and connect with nature.
  • Parramore Kidz Zone Football: Give Orlando’s kids in need the opportunity to learn the game of football by providing the safety gear and other equipment they need to enjoy their sport.
  • Shade Structure for Orlando Skate Park:  Orlando Skate Park brings together skateboard, BMX and Rollerblade enthusiasts. Give these athletes and their fans a break from the Florida sun with a new shade structure.

You can vote every day through April 30.

  1. Oh, please. I have never known any woman who played football or skateboarded. I know they exist. I’m just saying it’s very uncommon.

  2. Maybe not your peers. My point was, your original comment was very unprogressive.

  3. Who came up with these ideas? We need bathroom improvements / additions at our existing parks versus extraneous stuff like this!

  4. Nice, but I wish more parks had been included. Not interested in skateboarding or football. Any parks for women?
