recap!

Orlando City has fallen back on hard times after what seemed to be a glimmer of hope, beating the Columbus Crew on the first of the month. The Lions fell to Toronto FC 4-1 last Wednesday, before tying the Philadelphia Union, 0-0, on Saturday. With only one goal in the past two games, the Lions offense has slowed down, which seemed to be the only thing that they had going for them over the last couple of weeks.

Rookie striker Cyle Larin had several good scoring opportunities in the draw against Philadelphia, but could not convert. The Lion’s did have a notable performance from goalkeeper Tally Hall, who made several key saves against the Union to prevent the loss.

Lion’s rookie defender Conor Donovan made his debut for the Lions on Saturday, but left the match early with a knee injury to further disadvantage Orlando City’s already injury-plagued roster. Time is winding down for Orlando City as they fight to regain playoff contention. With only 10 regular season games left, they remain in seventh place.

The Lions will have a full weeks rest when they head to Seattle on Sunday to take on the Sounders. They will not play again for almost another full week when they head back to Toronto on August 22.
