A new Mexican grill will be moving into the former home of paella bar Mi Tomatina, in Winter Park’s Hannibal Square.
Pepe’s Cantina (Facebook) has already started refurbishing the location and is scheduled to open in mid-October. The project is a collaboration between Jose “Pepe” Baranneko and Franklin Chavez, the former GM of Mi Tomatina.
The restaurant is looking to bring a modern twist to traditional Mexican classics, featuring table-side guacamole, tacos and freshly made tortillas. Their drink specialties will include the “Don Pepe” a 2-liter margarita crowned with two coronitas, or the jalapeno margarita pictured above.
The Cantina will be open every day for lunch and dinner and will offer happy hour every day as well.
