A large lot tucked away in the center of the Lake Highland neighborhood could house some new developments soon.

UntitledThe space is actually comprised of five separate lots and currently houses a single one-story residence, and is surrounded by large expensive homes in the heart of the Lake Highland neighborhood [GMap].

The land first came to our attention early in the summer when we were investigating reports of some very free-range chickens that had been wandering the neighborhood for months. As it turns out, the chickens were kept at a small brick house at the end of Catchart Terrace. Mystery solved.

The home was located in the middle of a large undeveloped tract of land, surrounded by multi-story expensive mansions. As it turned out, there were four lots of land abutting the home that were simply untouched. Creating a Secret Garden affect, that wasn’t unpleasing.

The five lots have since been bundled together, containing more than 22,460 SF and put on the market, making it a great contender for our House of the Day or an I Wish This Was feature (we were hoping for an urban farm), but it seems we sat on it too long.

According to these plans submitted to the City, a developer is eyeing up the prime location for what looks like subdivided residential lots. The area is zoned as Residential Low Intensity so we’re assuming there isn’t an intention for condo or apartment development.

The plans call for the lot to be filled with trucked-in dirt to grade the site and for Cathcart to be paved and shouldered and is up for review at the November 17 Municipal Planning Board meeting.
