New on-campus pub, Dave’s Boathouse, will be hosting a Grand Opening on Thursday, November 12 at 6 p.m. featuring live music by the Groove Orient, trivia, free food, and the only legal booze on Rollins College campus.

The new space will be open in the former Dave’s DownUnder cafeteria space on the bottom floor of the Cornell Campus Center. The floor plan has been kept open and will be able to seat 180 people. The pub will have a nautical theme, in honor of the Rollins Tar mascot.

Dave’s will be operated by the campus catering vendor Sodexo and will be “semi-full service” casual, with food runners delivering orders to the customers after ordering from a cashier. The menu will include handmade burgers using grass-fed beef, beer cheese soup, locally sourced seafood, and more. The beer selection will feature six craft seasonal beers and a gluten-free hard cider option. Orlando Brewing will be the beer partner. Dave’s will also have wine on tap provided by Quantum Leap Winery in the Mills 50 District. Alcohol will be served after 1 p.m. on the weekend, after 7 p.m. Monday to Tuesday, and after 4 p.m on Thursdays and Fridays.

Dave’s Boathouse is open all week from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. during the school year.

Contrary to many rumors Rollins College is not a strictly dry campus. Drinking is not allowed in sorority or fraternity houses, or the freshman and sophomore dorms, but drinking is otherwise permitted as long as you are of legal drinking age. The campus is considered dry during orientation, winter break, and intercession, even if you are over 21.
