CORRECTION: We stated in the original article that the owner was one Chau Nguyen. We have since learned that that information was incorrect.
According to a report by Paul Brinkmann of the Orlando Sentinel, the owners of the long-promised Colonialtown Kobe Steakhouse have purchased another half-acre lot nearby.
Brinkmann reports that the owner, Chau Nguyen, purchased the lot which houses the closed Chevron gas station just next door to the former Barney’s Steak & Seafood [GMap].
The former gas station space will need to undergo brownfield cleanup and soil remediation before it can be developed.
According to Brinkmann’s article, the Colonialtown Kobe location has been delayed as the chain focuses on other new sites in the tourist corridor.
We apologize for the mistake! Paul Brinkmann reached out to us earlier today to inform us of the typo and we’ve corrected the post.
They bought the closed gas station next door.
Maybe they’ll use that space to put in a decent restaurant? Wishful thinking?
So the update is there is no update?
Probably the hobo camp that has moved in is causing the delays.
The article says the property owner is Chau Nguyen!
This is not one of our properties, Judi Garabo Hayes. I prefer the #seafoodsauce
Wish the owners would have more pride in how the building looks. It’s a sad looking place.
I’ve seen it done both ways. When it’s a choo choo they scoot it across the table while it smokes. Volcano just sits there. Choo choo is far more technical.
It’s an onion volcano.
Chau Nguyen, do you know anything about this? #whitesauce
Maybe. Another 7-11 on corner? Lol
Wonder why they need that second lot. Seems like the original lot had plenty of room for parking.
I miss the best salad bar in Orlando at the former Barney’s RIP
So it will graffiti vacant lots for another 5 years?
More white sauce?
I can hardly wait for the onion choo-choo train and for the chef to squirt a gag ketchup bottle on me
I’ll be glad to see that old chevron go. Ugliest thing on that stretch of colonial, and that saying a lot!
Kobe does well everywhere
Still seems like an odd location for a Kobe! That is essentially Little Vietnam still… But I guess the old one on Colonial did well before, so maybe I am wrong!
