Ask Bungalower: Is a Mexican Soul Food restaurant opening in former Tijuana Flats space?

I noticed a new sign and a new awning being installed at the old Tijuana Flats location in Thornton Park. I believe the new window decal reads “Cafe Verde – Mexican Soul Food.” Do you have any info on this new business? Thanks! – Jenna Halliwell

Verde Cantina (Website), specializing in Mexican soul food, will be opening in the former Tijuana Flats location in Thornton Park [Gmap].

According to the restaurant owner, “Mexican soul food” means Mexican comfort food and will steer away from everyday Tex-Mex fare. Lunch and dinner will be available daily and brunch on Sunday.

Verde will be open until midnight.

The restaurant will have a full bar menu featuring specialty tequila cocktails.
