It was recently revealed that the Mexican company On Group International, or Grupo On, would be attempting to take over the lease of Gargi’s Ristorante in Ivanhoe Village. We wrote about it HERE.
On Group currently owns and operates four different restaurants across six Mexican states:
- Super Salads – Fast casual restaurant focusing on nutritious and healthy plates.
- Cabo Grill – Authentic Mexican cuisine and seafood.
- Don Carbon – Casual restaurants with train-inspired decor.
- Capricciosas – Healthy gourmet pizza.
We got our hands on their presentation to the City and this is what we found out.
It will be called Mesa 21 and it will be a fast casual, full-service Mexican restaurant that focuses on “authentic dishes with bold flavors.”
They will abandon the brightly colored decor that most Mexican-themed American restaurants have and will instead try something more streamlined and modern. In their application, Group On lists Cheesecake Factory, Yard House, and BJ’s Restaurant as influences.
The average ticket price will fall between $15-$20 per person and they will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. See examples of the menu and restaurant layout below:
