SPONSORED:Bach Festival of Winter Park (Facebook | Website) is holding its annual Bach Festival this month, the area’s largest classical and choral music event, held this time each year at Rollins College. The Society has added a number of programs to bring people closer to the music, like their Bach & Beer event this Friday (Facebook Event) and Bach @ The Alfond concert series (Facebook Event).

As part of the festival, the Concertos by Candlelight programs feature performances by seriously accomplished soloists who have performed at major concert halls around the world: organist Ken Cowan, and the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson trio, arguably the best piano trio performing today.

For those of you who may never have dipped their toe into the classical music pool, this series is a fantastic introduction to the strong cultural programming the Bach Festival provides to the Orlando area and to Central Florida.

Organist Ken Cowan will have a solo recital on February 12 playing some of the great organ literature from Bach, Mozart, and Mendelssohn, as well as more contemporary work from composers like Rachel Laurin.

Two members of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, violinist Jaime Laredo and cellist Sharon Robinson, who have been performing together for over 35 years, will play works for violin and cello from composers like Johann Halvorsen, Erwin Schulhoff and Zoltán Kodály on February 21.

The performances will take place 7:30 p.m. on both Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20 at Knowles Memorial Chapel, Rollins College [GMap].
