The City’s Transportation Engineering Division will be studying the flow of traffic at the intersection of Edgewater Drive and Vassar Street in College Park [GMap]. The study is meant to look at the current and future conditions of the intersection, taking into account the current construction detour traffic from the nearby Ultimate I-4 project.

According to the City website, data will be collected over a 30-day (between February and March of this year) period using the following traffic pattern changes:

  • Restricting left turns from both the east and west of Vassar Street onto Edgewater Drive
  • Restricting left turns from both the north and south of Edgewater Drive onto Vassar Street
  • Prohibiting through-traffic from both sides of Vassar Street to the other side crossing Edgewater Drive

Once the following detours have been in place for a few weeks in mid-March, residents will be asked to submit feedback via an online survey on the City website.

Data will be collected via Bluetooth readers, mid-block counter equipment, and video tech at signaled intersections.

A public meeting will be held in the summer of 2016 to share the results of the data and to collect more feedback from residents and businesses.
