The Transportation and Engineering Division will be adding some safety upgrades to the crossings at the Shady Lane and Edgewater Drive [GMap] in College Park.
The design of the crossing is similar to the existing crossing at the intersection of the Orlando Urban Trail and Virginia Drive, featuring rapid flashing beacons controlled by pedestrians on both sides of Shady Lane. The sidewalk ramps at three of the four corners will be upgraded with ADA accessible ramps.
Construction will begin in late March.
Can’t wait!!! Much needed and long overdue…
Since you seem to know what you’re talking about let me ask you this. How many people does state and federal criteria say must be put as greater risk before a safer alternative is warranted?
See if you can figure out this type of signal… it would be the next step. Unfortunately, not enough peds cross Edgewater Drive at Shady Lane to warrant a full blown traffic signal… per State and Federal criteria.
Guess the city is still too damn cheap to use something with better stopping power.
haha where was this image when we were photoshopping last night?!
Finally! They’ve seen the light!!!
