A community picnic called “I am District 5” will be held on April 9 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Northwest Community Center. The picnic is a joint effort between District 5 Commissioner Regina Hill, First Presbyterian, and the City of Orlando Recreation Division.

Volunteer opportunities will be available at the Northwest Community Center between 8:30 a.m. and noon. Activities include the building of a community garden, building a youth library, a home fix-up for seniors, and distributing care packages.

Following the service events, the picnic will be held featuring free food, activities and entertainment.  In addition, Links Incorporated, Altamonte Springs Chapter, is providing volunteer medical services like dental exams, optometry exams, wellness and diabetes checks for resident youth. Parents must be present to register for medical services.

Volunteers can pre-register by calling the Northwest Community Center at 407.246.4465
