Chicago-based Third Coast International Audio Festival (Website) specializes in curating audio stories from around the world and sharing them with the public, whether by radio or by podcast, at listening events.

Third Coast International will be bringing their innovative programming to the Gallery at Avalon Island in Downtown Orlando on April 23 and 24.

PODCAST THERAPY
Overwhelmed by the all of the podcast options out there? Third Coast’s Podcast Therapists – highly trained listeners with a vast trove of audio delights – are here to help. Audience members are invited to share their problems (real or imagined) with Third Coast’s Sarah Geis and Maya Goldberg-Safir, and then are treated to “podcast prescriptions” – snippets from Third Coast’s vast sonic medicine bag.

TLDR: Bring your smartphone, your problems, and your ears. Leave with the perfect sonic cure/new favorite show.

FILMLESS SCREENING – “Writing on the Stall” with special guest Scott Carrier
Inspired by stories that are overheard, eavesdropped, and bits of sonic ephemera, Third Coast presents a curated selection of unforgettable audio works from around the world, accompanied by custom animation. After the screening, Third Coast’s Sarah Geis will be joined by celebrated radio maker Scott Carrier (Home of the Brave podcast), who will discuss his work and take questions from the audience.

PODCASTING WORKSHOP with special guest Scott Carrier
Have an idea for a podcast or audio story, but don’t know where to begin? Third Coast’s Sarah Geis and Maya Goldberg-Safir will get you up and recording. From planning your interviews to basic story structure, all the resources you need to go out into the world with a microphone. Plus, lots of audio examples! Award-winning journalist Scott Carrier (Home of the Brave podcast) will join the workshop to share tips for telling great stories and conducting meaningful interviews. Recommended for audio beginners/dabblers.
