The Thread is a column by Anna Christmas, a style consultant who recently moved back to Orlando, that looks at the who, what, and wear of Orlando’s fashion scene.

There is a new boutique in Ivanhoe village next to A&T Antiques [GMap] called Dora Mae (Instagram Website). Jewelry designer Ansley Schrimsher, opened the doors of her first brick and mortar shop about six months ago to feature her unique line of antique pieces that have been refurbished into a series of boho collections. They inspire some serious wanderlust. Every piece is one of a kind and some even made their way onto the red carpets of the Grammy’s.

Schrimsher began her art journey when her late grandmother, the shop’s namesake; Dora Mae, passed down her vintage jewelry collection to her. She began to modernize the pieces by blending different time periods and finishing them with a more modern, industrial flare.

Dora Mae is also a haven for some great paintings by local contemporary/abstract painter, Lisa Anderton (Facebook).

Stop in the shop yourself to check out the head-turning assortment of goodies.
