WMFE is celebrating National Poetry Month by asking Central Florida residents to send them original poems about their ZIP codes, “ZipOdes” if you will.

As each ZIP is only five numbers, your ZipOde should be only five lines, the number of words in each line is determined by the number of the ZIP. If there’s a zero in your ZIP, don’t write anything on that line. For instance:

32789
3 Brick-paved streets
2 welcome you.
7 The Avenue buzzes with conversation, wine, dogs.
8 In Central Park, vivid roses bloom in abundance,
9 embracing Winter Park’s feathered icon atop a bubbling fountain.

Got it?

Selected ZipOdes will be read aloud on air and the authors can read them themselves at the Young Friends of WMFE party at the Social on May 14.

The contest closes on April 30. Click HERE to submit your poem or to learn more.
