Searching for the Seventies: The Documerica Project is an exhibition created by the National Archives and Records Administration and organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. It will be on display at the Orange County Regional History Center (Website) from August 20 – October 30, 2016.
The Environmental Protection Agency hired freelance photographers to capture images relating to environmental problems, EPA activities, and everyday life in the 1970s for the project. Then the U.S. National Archives digitized more than 15,000 photographs from the series and included them in the online catalog.
The following photos are public domain, but there will be far more images on display at the History Center during the exhibit. Most are from around the country, but some are from Florida.
