UPDATE: THE RE-DEDICATION CEREMONY FOR THE RANDALL R. TUTEN ORLANDO FIRE MUSEUM WILL BE HELD 10 A.M. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1O.

Dedicated public servant, Randy Tuten, has passed away. To honor his service to Orlando, the Orlando Fire Museum (Website) will be renamed in his honor.

Randall Ray Tuten served in the United States Navy from 1970-1974, when he was discharged and became an Orlando Firefighter, just like his father. While working with the Orlando Fire Department, he held the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant, District Chief, Assistant Chief, and Deputy Chief and founded the OFD Explorer Program. He also served as the president of the Wadeview Park Neighborhood Association for seven years, a position that his wife, Genie Tuten, currently holds.

When Tuten retired from the Fire Department, he became very involved with OFD retiree outreach and programming and the Orlando Fire Museum.

The Orlando Fire Museum, formerly known as Orlando Firehouse Number 3, is a two-story brick building that was constructed in 1926. The museum’s collection includes a fully-restored 1911 horse-drawn steam pumpber, a 1915 LaFrance Fire Engine, and a 1919 LaFrance Ladder Truck. The museum hosts old-fashioned bucket brigade reenactments, and multiple tours and courses for the public.

It’s free to visit and is open Friday 9 a.m. to 3 pm. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at 814 E. Rollins St. [GMap].

The official new name of the museum is yet to be released.
