City of Winter Park and Mead Botanical Gardens (Facebook Website) staff unveiled a restored Lake Lillian wetlands and boardwalk last week.

One acre of the wetlands was completely cleaned of debris and invasive species over four years, with the help of over $450,000 worth of grants. The funding also allowed for 420 feet of additional boardwalk, which runs through the newly restored wetlands.

There are still a number of acres of the wetland that need to be restored.

The Mead Botanical Gardens are free to visit and are located at 1500 S. Denning Drive [GMap].

  1. Great news! No more feeling as if my toddler and I will slide in to the water as we use the boardwalk! 🙂 we love mead gardens. Such a treasure.
