PHOTO BY PETER SCHRYER VIA CREALDE SCHOOL OF ART

Following the recent passing of Crealdé  artist, Paul McNear, the arts school released the following statement in their newsletter:

“We mourn the passing of long-time open studio monitor, Paul McNear. Paul was a nearly constant presence at Crealdé for the last 30 years. He served in various capacities and was always a positive ambassador for the school.

Paul began as a sculpture student at Crealdé in the late 1980s and was selected as a Fellowship Program student in 1991. Following his time as a student, Paul began serving as a monitor for the Sunday life-drawing open studio, and he continued in that role until retiring for health reasons in early 2016. Paul also taught Painting & Drawing classes from 2010 through 2013. An accomplished sculptor, Paul’s “Terpsichore” is on display at the Albin Polasek Museum in Winter Park.
An integral part of Crealdé, Paul touched many lives through the Sunday open studios. He certainly will be missed.”

  1. Hello there, I was one of the models that worked with Paul. I would like to know if there is an individual I could contact regarding possibly acquiring either one of the sculptures/ casts or drawings he did of me. Might you be able to assist me in locating someone that could help. Respectfully, Leah

  2. Hi Brendan

Will always remember Paul McNear as a real talented guy related to almost any kind of art. We worked together at World Book, ChildCraft as well as their science year book. I was their only in-house photographer for 9 years, many working directly with Paul on various articles. I left Work Book; had some balance issues that later turned to be a brain tumor. Yet Paul and I still worked together in my freelance studio in Chicago until I move to Wisconsin
Interesting as somethimes I’d be working for Paul and then he would be working for me on projects. Had a good working relationship! Really miss him; we go back a long time. Saw him once in Winter Park on my way to a photo project in Puerto Rico. I still have a Web site and a link to some of my work and images: selling on fineartamerica; but retired and still dealing with events related to the tumor but overall Im okay but miss my old pal Paul!
