Christ-centric private school, Monarch Learning Academy (Website), is looking to rent classroom space from the Church on the Drive (Website), according to a recent Conditional Use Permit application with the City of Orlando.

Monarch Learning Academy is looking to move from their current home in Winter Park to the Church, to accommodate their growing enrollment.

The Church hopes to begin leasing its educational buildings to  Monarch Learning Academy at the beginning of the August 2017 school year.

They’re not off to a good start – While telling the public that the school would have “close to 150 students,” the permit request is for 275 students.

  2. Brunos Completely understand your point, but they have a new commitment to the surrounding local area since becoming Church on the Drive. Let’s hope the school helps breathe new life into the church so they can continue their good work 🙂

That’s good to hear – It’s also somewhat surprising, given the lack of concern for the community this church has shown in the past, as when they tried to open a highrise condo/office space where their rec center is.

  4. Oh no! I have 3 children at Monarch! Is there a new one-child-per-car rule? To ease your mind, there are two drop-off times in the morning, and pick up ranges from 1pm to 6pm M-F. Considering 400-500 people leave at the same time on Sundays causing no traffic delays, I don’t foresee any problems.

  5. They say they have 150 students, meaning that twice a day, five days a week there will be a bottleneck of 150 cars on Yale and Stetson Streets.
That’s an extra 1500 cars a week driving down those roads.
