The Thread is a column by Anna Christmas, a style consultant who recently moved back to Orlando, that looks at the who, what, and wear of Orlando’s fashion scene

To highlight the awesomeness of this past holiday weekend have provided you with a collection of moments that encompass Orlando’s street style, attire inspiration, and back stories from the independence day celebration … via Instagram.

Janessa Gursky

Janessa Gursky adventured from the City Beautiful into wild backwoods old Florida for this 4th of July. Her IG followers had the pleasure of watching her gorgeous road trip wind through the dirt roads of the Panhandle, South Georgia, and lower Alabama via our phones on the couch. Thanks, Obama. When she isn’t picking peaches and stumbling across hidden southern plantations, she is running creative direction, marketing and branding for local flower spot, In Bloom Florist (Website). Her eye for beauty and her New York background keep us loving her look and most importantly what she is doing for our community.

Calvin Cearlry

Calvin Cearlry is the owner and operator of Cloak and Dapper (Website) a local menswear shop. All inventory in the store is American-made, so what better place for gentlemen to find your patriotic wardrobe. Cloak and Dapper also features gentleman’s beard care, cologne, aftershave and any essentials you need to keep your manly odor in check in Orlando’s’ blistering heat. Be sure to check them out for your next holiday outfit inspiration.

Carol Santiago

Carol Santiago is a yogi who knows how to look fabulous while getting her sweat on. She is a local instructor at Warrior One (Website) yoga studio in Audubon Park. Santiago spent her holiday weekend teaching classes and keeping the rest of Orlando balanced in our holiday choices. Not only is she a gifted instructor and woman of fierce style, she is also a signed model. So if any one is looking for yoga direction, style inspiration, or a model for any editorial or commercial work, she is your girl. PS – Just because you are working out or meditating doesn’t mean you can’t look good doing it.

Kristine Young

Kristine Young is a local food photographer and blogger. You can always find Young at East End Market in Audubon Park writing or visiting with local taste-makers and foodies. Coming from a Chinese heritage, Young knows whats up with any Asian food destinations in Orlando. Dim Sum, one of her favorites, is regularly featured food on her Instagram. Her food taste isn’t the only thing Young has going for her; her style selection is on-point. Rocking vintage, monochromatic looks, or her trademark black-rimmed glasses, Young is one to watch. Unfortunately, as much as I love her delicious pics, you don’t often get a glimpse of her unless its on another stylists’ Instagram or her local watering hole, The Guesthouse. She is like the foodie Sia, but without bangs.

Jessica Wheel

Jessica Wheel, is a local hair stylist at Alchemy Salon (Website) in College Park. She is also a fashion guru, apparel and jewelry designer, and has a very personal style. Jessica currently is rocking dresses made of men’s shirts and some minimalist jewelry – which we had the privilege of seeing in action at an ironic, UK-inspired 4th of July party in Winter Park thrown by some expats from across the pond. Wheel is currently getting ready to leave cozy Central Florida to embark on an adventure to California, Seattle and Portland. Hopefully she will be back to visit often … but even if she’s not, I’ll be following her IG for regular updates.

Sarah Grafton

Sarah Grafton a Winter Park native who does it all. Grafton’s full-time, #adulting job is working with the family business, but she’s also the mother of two. When she isn’t busy doing her duties as a partner and mother she is heading up the Winter Park Merchant Association. After a couple of years out of the scene, Grafton has reestablished herself as the President of the Fashion Week event that takes place on ever-trendy Park Avenue. I love her all out red, white and blue in the photo above; that red, vintage-inspired one-piece is kind of everything. Look out for Grafton, she is a humble believer in local businesses and she is invested in helping other people achieve their own dreams. I hope we can be as well put together as her is with all of one’s responsibilities.

Seth Dunlap and Lee Mahal Yap Romero

The one and only, Seth Dunlap, is repping his patriotism via this star-spangled sleeveless shirt and vintage bolo hat. Dunlap is an up-and-coming videographer who’s incredible work is really getting noticed, at home and abroad. If he isn’t working with Orlando’s art, fashion, film, and food and beverage industry, then he is jaunting about the world capturing intrepid scenes and lovely people with his camera. It was a rare find to see him in front of the camera, so luckily for you, I get to share his GQ-approved look. Clearly Dunlap’s eye for excellent taste doesn’t stop at his camera lens. Lee Mahal Yap Romero is the photographer credited for this sexy photograph. Check his fabulous photos via his Instagram above.

Stephan Monteserin

This guy has a real feel for all things chic. A therapist by day and an Orlando taste-maker by night, Stephan Monteserin is, in fact, one of the few renaissance men in Orlando. His bright personality matches his bold wardrobe choices. I was lucky enough to capture this ensemble at a Winter Park hub bub on the 4th. Monteserin wins the Best Dressed award for the afternoon festivities this Fourth. I love to see well-dressed men who are equally fascinating on the inside.  Hopefully you can catch a glimpse of this guys style out and about at local art events at the Orlando Museum of Art or Snap and such. You might even get a chance to spark a thought-provoking conv0 with him. Cheers to people being unashamedly themselves.
