Celebrating Concrete: The Orlando Public Library & Brutalism
Historian Christine Madrid French explores the history of the all-concrete Orlando Public Library, designed by John Johansen in 1966 with a 1986 addition by local architect Nils Schweizer. The library is one of Florida’s foremost examples of Brutalism, a fortress-like architectural style marked by the use of rough concrete.
