ROBINSON STREET RENDERING VIA PROJECT DTO

We wrote about the upcoming FDOT-sponsored Planning Study of the Robinson Street Corridor back in July, HERE.

A study is being undertaken by the Florida Department of Transportation, in partnership with the City of Orlando, to “identify and objectively evaluate a full range of possible improvements to address multi-modal safety and mobility along the corridor.”

There will be a workshop held on October 17, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church and a second on October 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Lake Eola Park’s Northeast Lawn (across from Panera Bread).

Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts via an interactive map, HERE. Simply click on a location on the map and leave a comment about a possible improvement that you would like to see considered. Current suggestions include:

  • Designated blocked (curbs) bikes lanes would be a huge improvement on Robinson. Also, Robinson needs better crosswalks.
  • Create parking area, build future garage, and create Lymmo connector in/out of downtown with high frequency during rush hours and special events. This will make reducing lanes and creating pedestrian/cyclist friendly lanes on Robinson possible.
  • Pedestrian crossing on Robinson St. to Dickson Azalea Park is much needed. There are no close/safe crossing points to the park.
  • There should be ADA accessible access to the lake [Eola] and across the street into both of the landmark buildings directly from the bus stop. Right now, handicap have to travel half a mile around to get to a ramp.
  • 35 MPH is far too fast for a street this close to downtown.
  • Milk District dead during the day b/c no parking.
