PROMO: The Orange County Library System is now accepting submissions for the third annual Melrose Awards. The awards recognize projects made using resources available in the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center at the Orlando Public Library. Award categories include film, audio, maker (electronics, engineering, sewing, prototypes), photography and graphic design, and game design and programming.
The grand prize winner of the Melrose Awards will receive a $1,000 cash prize, and a first-place winner in each category will receive $250. Second and third place winners will be recognized in Library publicity.
Winners in each category are determined using a combination of the following criteria: public vote, expert opinions and collective use of the Melrose Center. Submissions for the awards will be accepted through Nov. 20, 2016. Public voting on entrants will begin Nov. 28 and conclude on Dec. 18. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the Melrose Center’s third anniversary event on Feb. 11, 2017.
All entrants must have an Orange County Library System card in good standing and must have created some of their project at the Melrose Center. For complete contest rules, or to enter a project in the awards, visit melroseawards.ocls.info.
