According to indie-publisher Burrow Press, the Literary Death Match is a marriage of “the literary and performative aspects of Def Poetry Jam, rapier-witted quips of American Idol’s judging (without any meanness), and the ridiculousness and hilarity of Double Dare.”

Readers will perform their best writing in seven minutes or less in front of a panel of judges. This episode’s panel consists of Billy Manes, editor-in-chief of Watermark Media; Chuck Dinkins, professional skateboard legend; Kay Rawlins, president of the Orlando City Soccer Foundation.

The event is 8 p.m. November 15 at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center in Loch Haven Park. Tickets cost $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
