We often get photographs from our Bungalower readers of things that are happening around town, and we have started featuring them on the site in a series called Eyes on the Street, in honor of our hero Jane Jacobs.

Ivanhoe dive bar-staple has infamously been a cash-only bar since its opening, decades ago, but they’ve changed with the times and are now accepting credit cards, as seen in the photo above.

The Hideaway Bar is a known hot spot for people who work the late-shift as they start serving beer and liquor at 7 a.m. to wash down their burgers and tater tots. The Hideaway is also the lone holdout in the expansion of the Yard development’s second phase project, more on that HERE.

  1. It takes a lot to make the leap into paying that giant 2% processing fee. It amazes me how many businesses spend so much time worrying about credit card fees. I know for a fact that bars have lost money when I’ve walked out because they are cash only. Yeah you saved that $20 in credit card fees but you just turned away a $80 tab.
