A six-month anniversary event will be held at the Orange County Regional History Center in observance of the the Pulse Nightclub tragedy.

The event will include remarks by local leaders, performances by The Voice contestant Sisaundra Lewis, and the Orlando Gay Chorus. There will also be a memorial reading of the names of those who died.

The event will mark the start of the new Pulse Digital Gallery at the History Center, which will play a loop of Pulse photos and a public viewing area.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Monday, December 12 in the History Center Plaza [GMap].

In related news, the Orlando Police Department has announced a new Safe Place initiative meant for residents who are experiencing anti-LGBTQ+ harassment. The OPD will be handing out new rainbow decals in the shape of a badge to be displayed prominently in storefronts. Scroll down to see an example of the decals.

To register your business as a Safe Place, click HERE. After you’ve registered, an OPD Commissioner Liaison Officer will deliver the decal and explain the program in further detail in person.
