ADAM KIEFER, ‘XAVERINE.’ VIRUNGA RANGER, 2015

Orlando-based photographer, Adam Kiefer (Website), specializes in conservation, and his work has been taking him to Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo since 2013.

Virunga was founded in 1925 by King Albert I of Belgium, to project mountain gorillas living in the Virunga Massif forest. Leonardo DiCaprio featured the park in a documentary of the same name, that he created for Netflix, and it was nominated for an Academy Award in 2015 for Best Documentary Feature.

The gallery will also be featuring work by Jaime Margary, Peterson Guerrier, and Ya La’Ford.

The opening of the exhibit will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, February 17 at Snap Downtown, in the 420 E. Church Street building.
