A steering committee of Valencia faculty, staff, and community partners has recently launched the Pulse Memorial Scholarship to aid the LGBTQ and Hispanic population in pursuing post-secondary educational opportunities in Central Florida.

Over 40 percent of homeless youth are LGBTQ and roughly 15 percent of young Hispanics have a college degree.

The committee has raised over $15,000 but an additional $25,000 must be raised in order to endow a scholarship. An endowed scholarship means the principal funds are invested and remain untouched, with only the interest being withdrawn to fund annual scholarships, essentially making the funds a permanent gift.

A GoFundMe page has been launched, HERE.
