The City of Orlando will begin switching to a new solid waste service schedule this May, one that halves garbage collection and doubles recycling pickups.

The news follows on the tail of a successful trial project in curated Orlando neighborhoods, that we wrote about previously, HERE.

The switch will take place over the next six months:

  • May- Northwest Orlando, including College Park
  • June- Southwest and southeast Orlando, including Lake Nona
  • August- The remaining pockets of town laying in-between

Following a City-wide roll-out, the program will still need to be voted on by City Council this summer, before being officially adopted.

  1. I can’t wait. There is hardly ever anything in my garbage but my recycling is always full and sometime overflowing.
