Rollins College Senior Student Exhibition Celebration
The Cornell Fine Arts Museum and The Department of Art and Art History at Rollins College invite you to join us in celebrating the exhibition, “mortar,” which opens at the Museum on Saturday, April 15. The exhibition features works from graduating Rollins College studio art majors Claire Block, Jose Gonzalez, Elise Hickman, and Abbey Toshie. Free admission and open to the community.

In the Artist’s Studio with Merline Labissière
In the Artist’s Studio is Downtown Arts District Orlando’s visiting artist program modeled after the BRAVO network’s popular “Inside the Actor’s Studio.” This year, we are focusing on the art of fashion design! This year’s honored guest is Merline Labissière. She is a Haitian fashion designer who was a contestant on Project Runway Season 14. In the Artist’s Studio is hosted by former CBS “The Early Show” anchor and WKMG-TV Local 6 news anchor, Mark McEwen.
Mexican Contemporary Film Festival
The Consulate of Mexico in Orlando and the Timucua Arts Foundation present the 2nd Mexican Contemporary Film Festival in Orlando! Short films by filmmakers of Mexican descent will be screened, with three prizes awarded. The evening culminates with the screening of the feature film Burros by special guest, director Odín Salazar.

Record Store Day 2017!

Making History: Recording the Past – An Oral History Workshop
Many of us have wanted to preserve the life stories and memories of our parents, grandparents, neighbors, and community members in their own words and voices. At this workshop, we’ll focus on what makes a good oral history and also look at some of the equipment that’s helpful in conducting an interview. Our Making History series of Saturday workshops explore heritage crafts. Each workshop is taught by an experienced instructor; materials and a light lunch are included.

The 9th Annual Winter Park Paint Out
The Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens, a gem in Central Florida’s Winter Park, will host the 9th Annual Winter Park Paint Out. Stop by the museum and gardens to see both the artists’ works in progress and recently completed works, watch artists painting in the gardens, and attend free painting demonstrations. Plein air, a French term meaning “in the open air,” describes artworks painted outdoors with the subject directly in view, rather than being created in a studio.
