Events this weekend will draw thousands of visitors to Downtown Orlando, so the City of Orlando has issued a Transportation advisory for travelers in the area who may be affected by road closures or excessive traffic.

Travelers are encouraged to take advantage of alternative modes of transportation like LYMMO, bike share, car share, or carpooling.

Events this weekend include:

Construction on the 408 and Interstate 4 could delay your commute. When exiting at Colonial, Amelia Street, Rosalind, and Orange Avenue when heading downtown, consider parking at a City garage, before walking to your destination. Parking can be purchased in advance at the following links:

There are a number of road closures Downtown, marked in the above graphic.

  1. Speaking of road closures… what is city policy when event road closures block ingress/egress to & from our residence? Shouldn’t the city or the event planner offer affected building residents alternative parking either for free or at a reduced rate when access to our dwelling is cut off? A lot of times events only cater to businesses – residents be damned.

Usually I have to plan ahead and find/pay for parking elsewhere in advance. However, if I forget there is an event or I miss the memo, I will get trapped in my garage due to the street closures/marathons/parades which prohibit me from exiting when I need to go to work. I enjoy downtown events, but at the same time provisions should be made for the affected residents who live within the CBD.
