“Hi! So the restaurant, Square One, on the corner of Mills and Minnesota in Winter Park abruptly closed today without warning … I’m standing at the first green bank, watching a lot of customers show up, then walk away in complete confusion. What the heck happened?”

The restaurant is indeed closed.

Tampa-based restaurant chain, Square One Burger (Facebook Website), opened their Winter Park location roughly a year ago on the corner of Minnesota and Orlando Avenue in Winter Park [GMap].

Bungalower spoke with the owner, Andre Raab, who informed us that he was forced to evict the restaurant for defaulting on their lease agreement and failure to pay rent. According to court records, Square One owes more than $22,318.41 in back rent to the property owner. Minimum Annual Rent for the space was $38.50 per SF, for an estimated $192,000 per year fee. Square 1 Burger corporate offices had not responded to our inquiries, at the time of this post.

The above sign in the window has since been removed and replaced with a “For Lease” sign.

The 5,000 SF retail space is available immediately. The impact fees are paid for with the City of Winter Park, upgraded utilities include hvac and grease trap, and equipment may be available for purchase at a discounted price. There are 78 parking spaces available. Save for minor cosmetic touches the restaurant is turn key-ready for a new tenant. Click HERE to see the listing.
