There will be a special edition of What’s Up Downtown on the evening of June 1 at the Downtown Snap gallery, at 420 E. Church Street [GMap]. The focus of the night will be “creative placemaking” which is a practice of shaping the physical and social character of a community through arts and culture.

The panel will be MC’d by Thomas Allen, president of Urbanista (Website) and moderated by Thomas C. Chatmon, Jr., the Executive Director of the Downtown Development Board/CRA. The panel itself will feature Ben Hoyer, founder of Credo Coffee, Erin Sullivan, public relations administrator for the Orange County Public Library, Chris Castro, Sustainability director for the City of Orlando’s Office of Sustainability and Energy, Flora Maria Garcia, president of United Arts, and Jessica Bryce Young, editor-in-chief of Orlando Weekly.

The event is free to attend but guests are asked to RSVP by clicking HERE. Networking will commence at 5:30 p.m. and the event itself will begin at 6 p.m.
