UPDATE: Lake Alert Issued for Clear Lake LIFTED, August 4, 2017

The City of Orlando Streets and Stormwater Division has issued an alert for Clear Lake due to the possibility of elevated fecal coliform counts, a nearby sanitary sewer overflow.

“Out of an overabundance of caution, the alert is being issued.”

The leak occurred near the intersection of West Gore Street and Woods Avenue [GMap] due to a breakage in a contractor’s bypass hose. It’s estimated that approximately 100 gallons of sewage was released. Cleanup was carried out by the contractor and warning signs will be placed in Barker Park and Clear Lake Park.

The City is advising that all water contact activities cease until further notice, including irrigation. City Stormwater personnel will collect bacteria samples on a routine basis. Once bacteria counts drop to acceptable State Water Quality Standards.

Call the Lake Alert number, 407.246.2220, for the most up-to-date information regarding your lake. During weekdays, the City’s Lake Alert website, www.cityoforlando.net/lakealert will also have the latest information.
