Mayor Buddy Dyer has launched an initiative under his Orlando Cares program that combines hands-only CPR education with a mobile app, to make Orlando a safer city.

Over 400,000 sudden cardiac arrests occur each year across the country, with roughly 89 percent of that number resulting in death, because they did not receive CPR from someone at the scene.

You can schedule a free hands-only CPR workshop for a group by emailing [email protected] or calling 407-246-4277.

Individuals who are CPR-trained are encouraged to download the PulsePoint App, so they can be alerted if someone nearby is suffering from sudden cardiac arrest. It also alerts the app user to the location of the closest publicly accessible automated external defibrillator.
