Installation by Bordalo ii

We announced in August, HERE, that the City of Orlando would be launching a call for artists to adorn two new walls that will frame a new extension of Gerdtrude’s Walk in Downtown. That call has just been launched.

The City will select two finalists to adorn the new walls once they are finished being constructed at the end of December. Each artist will be responsible for each side of their respective wall.

The theme for the walls is “Urban Lifestyle” meant to play off of the expanding nightlife and cultural options in Downtown Orlando.

Submissions are due by October 4 with finalists being notified on November 20. Successful finalists will be awarded a contract for the amount of $12,500 which includes artist fees, installation, design, fabrication, materials, insurance, public presentations, meetings with staff, and all other related expenses.
