The Orlando Chapter of the Awesome Foundation will be handing out free money on the weekend of December 9 and 10 around Lake Eola Park.
The Awesome Foundation is a worldwide network of groups comprised of ten people that donate $100 each towards a pot of money that is awarded to the “most awesome” idea pitched to them that month. We’ve written about them previously, but click HERE for a list of projects they’d funded up until January, 2016.
They’ve also funded projects like Art is Moving on the SunRail or this toy maker who’s donated over 4,000 hand-made toys for local children.
This upcoming event is part of a global initiative called “Awesome Days” where chapters will hand out envelopes stuffed with a $10 in cash. Each envelope comes with a note that encourages the recipient to pay the money forward in some way – like hiding it in a favorite book in a public place, or buying someone some ice cream. Just like the money awarded through the Foundation, there are no strings with this money and it can be spent however the recipient sees fit.
