We often get photographs and tips from our Bungalower readers of things that are happening around town, so we have started featuring them on the site in a series called Eyes on the Street, in honor of our favorite urbanist Jane Jacobs.
“Do you know what is going on at the NE corner of Ferncreek and Colonial? There is a radiating web of above-ground PVC pipes extending from two large stainless steel boxes and black and red hoses. All the pipes extend out and then make an L turn into the ground …” – Chad Cameron
Well Chad Cameron, those boxes and hoses on the old Chevron site [GMap] are part of a soil remediation process being carried out by the property owner, Hien Nguyen.
Nguyen was issued a Building Permit to install the remediation equipment in order to clean up the site before any future construction on the site. The permit covers two self-contained pre-packaged mobile temporary equipment trailers, temporary electrical power drop by OUC. The trailers will inject air and extract soil as part of the cleanup process, which is expected to last approximately six months.
And check out the email address associated with the permit application; @kobesteakhouseusa.com. This looks like one step closer to the long-promised Colonialtown Kobe Steakhouse.
Are there any updates on what is happening with the vacant lot at the
corner of Ferncreek and E Colonial?
It’s October 2019. What is taking so long?
Was there a more recent update to this lot? We are moving next door and curious if its still slated to be Kobe Steakhouse.
It’s in our “working it out” pile. Looks like it may be a gas station …
You are a gem! Thanks for the info!!!
But will this Kobe has yum-yum sauce?
