The Mennello Museum of American Art’s new exhibit, When the Water Rises: Recent Paintings by Julie Heffernan opens this Friday, March 23 with an artist tour and opening reception.

Heffernan’s work imagines new alternative worlds that arise in response to environmental disaster and “planetary excess” full of trees, rafts, and post-apocalyptic fantasy.

Heffernan has exhibited in Korea for the Korean Biennial, North Carolina, Knoxille Museum of Art, National Academy of Art, and many others.

She will lead a lecture and tour of the exhibit from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the museum which will be followed by the opening reception. Tickets are free for members or $10 for newbies.

Mennello is located at 900 E. Princeton Street in Loch Haven Park.
