EDIT: We originally stated that the Smiths opened Beefy King. The restaurant was in fact opened by the Veigle family, not the Smiths.

This June marks 50-years in business for Beefy King Restaurant (Facebook) in the Milk District.

The local restaurant is located at 424 N. Bumby Avenue [GMap] and has been in business for 50 years ago, mostly under the guidance of Freeman and Margaret Smith. The space is now run by the Smith’s granddaughter Shannon and her husband James Woodrow.

In recognition of the anniversary, Beefy King will be selling the Original Beefy and Hammy sandwiches along with their famous tater tots and sodas for a 50 percent discount. All four generations will be in attendance on the anniversary dates to serve guests.

There will also be a commemorative 50th Anniversary T-Shirt available for purchase.
