The City of Orlando is interested in signing Canin Associates to assist with the second phase of a “one-way to two-way” study on both Orange Avenue and Magnolia Avenue in Orlando’s North Quarter District (uptown), north of Colonial Drive.
The first phase of the study was engaged in September 2017 and concluded with a recommendation from an engineering firm that both Orange and Magnolia could indeed be restored to two-way streets, at least technically speaking.
The second phase will engage stakeholders to test if the community would be receptive to a two-way change and to design what the possible changes would look like via a series of charrettes and public meetings; especially for walkers, cyclists, transit users, and motorists, and the storefronts they shop at.
This item is expected to be approved at the July 9 City Council meeting.
