Rollins Museum: Exhibition Tour – Margaret Bourke-White’s Different World
Join the Cornell Fine Art Museum’s Dale Montgomery Fellow, Elizabeth Coulter, for a tour of Margaret Bourke-White’s Different World on view through August 26. 2018. Margaret Bourke-White’s Different World examines the trailblazing work that photographer Margaret Bourke-White produced while abroad. Drawing on the Cornell Fine Arts Museum’s collection of Bourke-White’s photographs taken in Russia and augmented by loans of her photojournalism conducted during World War II and beyond, the exhibition explores Bourke-White’s groundbreaking subject matter. This event is open to the public.
Dog Days Pet Portraits
NOTE: Sessions are 20% off, so $40 per pet. Book now! For the fourth consecutive year, we’re offering Pet Portraits to benefit Pet Alliance at Appleton Creative. Fri, 8/24 from 12p–6p Appleton Creative 539 Delaney Ave, Orlando, FL 32801 Guests may park in the parking spots out front or behind the house in the back parking lot. The session includes web-res images of your pets posted online for download. Sessions last 10 minutes — per pet.
Our Orlando Opening Reception
The Mennello Museum of American Art is pleased to present “Our Orlando: Making Sense of our World” and “American Youth: Our Future.” Both exhibitions will be on view at the Mennello Museum from August 24 through October 7. Our Orlando: Making Sense of our World will feature the work of four rising local artists: Sarah M Bender, Peterson Guerrier, Boy Kong, and Kelly Joy Ladd.

Sun Screens Movie: “Apollo 13”
There’s nothing like seeing a movie the old-fashioned way: with a group of fellow movie fans. Our featured film for Sunday, August 26, is 1995’s “Apollo 13.” For director Ron Howard and the cast including Tom Hanks, realism was the name of the game. The real-life story on which the film was based was suspenseful enough on its own to enthrall an audience, even though its outcome was hardly a secret.
Intro to Tea Pot Racing
Splendid Teapot Racing involves radio-controlled teapots negotiating an obstacle course within a set time. The vehicle is simply a teapot of your choice attached to a radio-controlled car, truck or tank and embellished to taste. Keeping the size of vehicles within the limits stated in the rules helps ensure a fairer and more entertaining contest. The teapot doesn’t still have to function as a teapot!
